Hello, I’m Michael
I work as a project manager, am a parent, and live abroad in New York, United States.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter in life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to United States wasn’t part of our long-term plan. Like many relocations for work, it began as an opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The opening months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Routine tasks seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet gradually, habits started forming. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt dependable.
Why I Built Oak Stream Studio
Most online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in United States.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Practical insights from living in United States
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Moving Forward
Our stay in United States continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue recording what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in New York or anywhere within United States, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Michael
